Terms of Sale & Refund Policy

1. Who we are

This website is operated by HERD Pte. Ltd., a private limited company incorporated in Singapore ("HERD", "we", "us"). Contact: herd.network.team@gmail.com. Our Unique Entity Number (UEN) will be published on this page.

2. What we sell

HERD One is an infrasound sensor for citizen science, currently in development. We accept pre-order reservations for the first production batch. We also accept voluntary R&D support contributions. We do not currently sell finished, in-stock products.

3. Pre-order reservations

• A pre-order reservation costs USD 25 (or THB 249 for residents of Thailand at local pricing) and is a fully refundable deposit.
• The deposit reserves one HERD One sensor from the first production batch and a numbered station slot in the HERD network.
• Estimated shipping for the first batch: second half of 2026. This date is an estimate, not a guarantee. Specifications may change during development.
• Before shipping, we will contact you to confirm your shipping address. No additional amount is ever charged automatically.

Deposits are held separately. Pre-order deposits are recorded as a refundable liability and are not used to fund day-to-day R&D. R&D and the network are funded from the separate streams described below (sponsorships, support contributions and grants), so a refund is always available from reserved funds.

4. R&D support contributions (donations)

• R&D support contributions are voluntary payments that support the development of the HERD sensor network by HERD Pte. Ltd., a commercial company.
• They are not donations to a registered charity, not investments, and confer no equity, interest, or tax deduction.
• Contributors receive recognition on the project's founders list and quarterly public spending reports.
• R&D contributions are non-refundable once spent, but we will honor refund requests made within 14 days of payment.
• Recurring support made through third-party platforms (e.g. Open Collective, Patreon, Ko-fi, GitHub Sponsors) is also governed by that platform's own terms.

5. Corporate sponsorships

• Sponsorships are commercial agreements in which a sponsor funds the mission and receives brand deliverables in return — such as logo placement, naming rights, public acknowledgement, or a CSR / impact report.
• Because the sponsor receives identifiable value, a sponsorship is a commercial transaction, not a donation. How a sponsor accounts for it (e.g. as a marketing or CSR expense) is determined by the sponsor and their own tax advisors; HERD makes no representation about deductibility in any jurisdiction.
• Sponsorship tiers, deliverables and invoicing are confirmed in a separate written agreement. Local invoicing can be arranged for sponsors in Thailand.
• Larger sponsors may instead enter a co-funded R&D arrangement; any associated incentives (for example under Thailand BOI / Revenue Department rules) are the sponsor's responsibility to assess.

6. Important product disclaimer

HERD One and the HERD network are research instruments. They are not a certified life-safety device or a guaranteed warning system, and they do not replace official government emergency alert channels. No consumer device available today can guarantee advance warning of a tsunami or volcanic eruption.

7. Shipping

First-batch shipping destinations and costs will be confirmed by email before shipment. If we cannot ship to your country, your deposit will be refunded in full.

8. Payments

Card payments are processed by Stripe and collected by our payment agent WEST EAST TRADE GROUP PTE LTD (Singapore), which acts as merchant of record for card transactions on behalf of HERD Pte. Ltd.; the charge appears on your card statement as “HERD THEHERD.NETWORK”. We accept major cards and local payment methods where available. Cryptocurrency contributions (BTC, USDC) are accepted at the company addresses published on our website; for amounts above the equivalent of USD 1,000 we may request identity verification.

9. Privacy

We collect your email address and, later, your shipping address — solely to manage your reservation. We do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing. Sensor telemetry in the HERD network is open data by design and contains no personal information beyond the station name you choose.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Singapore.
