Build the Andaman early-warning network.
Put your name on the Research Center.
HERD is an open-science mission building a low-cost infrasound network for early detection of tsunamis and volcanic eruptions — born in Phuket in memory of December 26, 2004. This brief is for a single anchor partner: co-fund a multi-year applied-research programme and a permanent, named Research Center on the coast where the risk is real.
Why this, why now
- The gap is real. Reference-grade infrasound arrays cost millions and are sparse. A dense, low-cost network is an open scientific problem worth solving here, on this coast.
- One name on the door. The flagship is a single-anchor partnership — not a logo in a strip. You get a named center, not a thank-you note.
- Real R&D, not a donation. Genuine applied research with verifiable deliverables — structured to be NSTDA-eligible for Thai R&D tax incentives (your accountant confirms; see note below).
What you get
A named "[Your Name] — HERD Early Warning Research Center", 150–300 sensors across your developments and the coast, milestone technical reports, an annual auditable CSR/ESG report, top brand placement, joint PR, a seat on the partner council, and segment exclusivity on Phuket.
What we deliver
Genuine applied research: lab calibration of low-cost sensors, a network detection algorithm, a 300-node pilot, validation against IRIS / USGS / IMS catalogues, an open dataset, and a published methodology — with knowledge transfer to Thai R&D staff via a university partner.
The science (why it's real R&D)
- Technological uncertainty: can arrays of low-cost MEMS barometers detect geophysical infrasound at useful signal-to-noise vs reference instruments?
- Methodology: cross-correlation and phase coherence across hundreds of heterogeneous consumer nodes (variable siting, clocks, noise) is an unsolved problem.
- Advancement: new knowledge, a validated algorithm, an open dataset — and an operational pilot network as the basis for scale-up.

How we start
- Intro call — align on scope, named center, and your developments to cover.
- Sign a milestone-based R&D Co-Funding Agreement; we provide the NSTDA-ready scope for your accountant.
- M1 kicks off within 30 days of first payment — base, lab, and first sensors go live.
